Open Inch
What do you think of my poem?
I am completely open to constructive criticism but please dont be rude. I am a performer and this poem is kind of about my love of performing and being on stage. It’s for my AP English class for our “Writer’s Choice” assignment. Any suggestions or comments?
MY CELEBRATION
Hours, days, weeks of preparation
Practices, rehearsals into all hours of the night
Fixing, nitpicking, making it perfect
Trying to get everything right
Finally, finally the time has arrived
Warm up, get dressed, get ready
Break a leg everyone
Stop shaking, stay steady
Fight the nerves, fight the anxiousness
Its almost time to start
The overture begins
All I hear is the acceleration of my heart
Gradually the curtain opens, inch by inch
Get to places in the dark of the blackout
The lights come up, I’m finally at ease
This is what my life’s about
The stage, the music, the audience
My home, my heart, my inspiration
Worth every bit of nerves and anxiety
Performing is my own celebration
I really like it. The performance could be so symbolic. It could be anything! This poem makes me smile
if you get the time ….please look at mine
